Jordan Scott Obituary, Death – 19-Year-Old Newburgh Basketball Player, Jordan Michelle Scott Remembered for Her Competitive Spirit and Kindness
Jordan Michelle Scott, a 19-year-old from Newburgh, Indiana, has died, leaving her family, friends, teammates and wider community mourning the loss of a young woman remembered for her kindness, determination and love of basketball.
Scott passed away Monday, September 7, 2026.
Born December 6, 2006, in Longwood, Florida, Jordan was the daughter of Mario and Amy (Hansing) Scott. She graduated from Castle High School in 2025, where she was a member of the girls basketball team.
Her passion for the sport continued after high school. Jordan played basketball at Wabash Valley College for one year before transferring to the University of Evansville, continuing her athletic career while building lasting relationships with teammates and friends.
Those who knew Jordan remembered her as a committed teammate and fierce competitor who brought loyalty and determination both on and off the court. Away from basketball, she enjoyed spending time with the people closest to her, visiting amusement parks and caring for her beloved dogs, Clyde and Buster.
Jordan is survived by her parents, Amy (Hansing) Scott and Mario Scott; her sister, Jayden Scott; grandmothers Vickie Hansing and Cynthia Scott; grandfather Michael Scott; aunts Michelle Scott and Rose Dozier; uncles Thomas (Rica), Rob, Marlon (Lisa) and Scotty (Ana); cousins Bailey, Emma, Morgan, Robert, Jaxson, Isiah, Scotty and Dr. Jonnica; along with extended family members, teammates and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert “Papa” Hansing, and her uncle, Stacy Scott.
Funeral and Visitation Arrangements
A celebration of Jordan’s life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Neu Chapel at the University of Evansville, 1800 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, Indiana 47714. Rev. Andy Payton will officiate, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Neu Chapel. Friends and family may also visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday and continuing until the service.
Memorial donations may be made in Jordan’s memory to Castle High School Girls Basketball, University of Evansville Women’s Basketball, or Wabash Valley College Women’s Basketball.
Jordan’s family, teammates and friends will remember her for the determination she brought to the basketball court, the affection she showed toward those around her, and the loving spirit that made her deeply cherished.
