MENOMINEE, Mich. — The Menominee community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Rain Laes, a 16-year-old student at Menominee Junior/Senior High School whose life made a meaningful impact on her family, classmates, teachers and friends.

Rain was a junior at Menominee Jr./Sr. High School and was actively involved in several school activities. She was a member of the school’s marching band, where she played cymbals, and also took part in the annual school play.

She had participated in the production for the past two years, giving her an opportunity to share her talents while building memories with fellow students and members of the school community.

Remembered as a Beloved Daughter

For Rain’s family, her loss has brought unimaginable heartbreak. Her family described her as a deeply loved daughter who brought tremendous happiness and love into their lives.

In an emotional tribute, her parent reflected on the 16 years they were blessed to have with Rain, referring to her lovingly as their “little girl.”

Members of the community were invited to gather for Rain’s Walk of Honor at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay.

The ceremony was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the 10th-floor Pediatrics ICU, providing an opportunity for family, friends, classmates and community members to honor Rain and stand alongside her loved ones.

The gathering also underscored the strong connections between Rain, her school community and the people of Menominee.

A Life Remembered by Her School Community

Rain’s involvement in the marching band and school theater gave her a special place within Menominee Junior/Senior High School.

Classmates and friends are now left remembering the moments they shared with her, including performances, school activities and everyday memories that became part of her short but meaningful life.

Her family has encouraged others to hold their loved ones close, reminding children and families to express how much they care for one another while recognizing how precious life can be.
