Terrance Kersteins Obituary, Death – Hamilton Community Mourns 18-Year-Old Remembered for Hockey, Music and Kindness

HAMILTON, Ontario — Family, friends and members of the Hamilton community are mourning the unexpected death of Terrance Kersteins, who passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 18.

Born in Hamilton on May 26, 2008, Terrance was remembered as a kind, enthusiastic young man whose personality and warmth left a lasting impression on the people around him.

He was the beloved son of Kim and Peter Kersteins and the cherished brother of Joey. He was also a treasured grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, leaving behind an extended family and circle of friends who are now grieving his loss.

Remembered for His Love of Sports and Music

Terrance attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Elementary School before continuing his education at Cathedral High School. During those years, he built friendships and connections with classmates, teachers and members of the wider school community.

Sports played an important role in Terrance’s life, particularly hockey. He had been involved in the sport for most of his life and valued not only the competition but also the sense of belonging and friendships that came with being part of a team.

Music was another of his passions. Terrance enjoyed singing and playing guitar, often sharing his enthusiasm for music with those close to him.

Beyond his personal interests, Terrance also found ways to help others. He volunteered with the Canadian Council of the Blind, an experience that reflected the caring and generous nature remembered by his family and friends.

His dog, Remi, was also a much-loved companion and an important part of his everyday life.

Memorial Visitation Planned in Hamilton

A memorial visitation for Terrance will be held at L.G. Wallace Funeral Home, 151 Ottawa Street North, Hamilton, on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with memorial speeches scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will follow.

Those wishing to honor Terrance’s memory may make donations to CNIB Guide Dogs, a cause that was meaningful to him.

A Young Life Remembered

Terrance’s death has left his family and friends facing a profound loss. Those who knew him are remembering his smile, generosity, enthusiasm and the relationships he formed throughout his life.

His love of hockey, music and his willingness to contribute to his community are among the qualities that will remain part of his memory.
